Bio. Dr. Maecker received a BS in Microbiology from Purdue University and a PhD in Cancer Biology from Stanford University. He did postdoctoral work with Ronald and Shoshana Levy at Stanford, and was an Assistant Professor of Biology at Loyola University Chicago, as well as a Senior Scientist at BD Biosciences, San Jose, CA. Current Research Program and Future Directions. We study fundamental cell biology questions in the nervous system. These questions include how neurons establish polarized cytoskeletal networks during development, how polarized intracellular membrane trafficking gives rise to distinct morphology and function of axon and dendrites, how neurons coordinate intracellular synaptic assembly and Valdez Lab Our proposal entitled “Ototopical Delivery of Smart Optical Contrast Agents for Middle Ear Infection Diagnosis” was selected for seed grant funding through the Stanford Predictives and Diagnostics Accelerator (SPADA) program for the 2020 CTSA-funded cycle.

Pringle Lab About the Pringle Lab For many years, the Pringle laboratory has exploited the awesome power of yeast as a genetically tractable model eukaryote to investigate fundamental problems in cell and developmental biology such as the mechanisms of cell polarization and of cytokinesis. Yang Lab. My research group focuses on understanding the mechanisms responsible for viral replication and development of new strategies to combat viral pathogens. We combine chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, and molecular virology approaches to tackle challenges in both basic and translational research.
